Three hundred and fifty years later, in 1863, Alexandre Le Grand, a merchant and collector of religious art, discovered the lost recipe for this elixir in his collection. Intrigued by the discovery and after many attempts, he successfully recreated the mysterious liqueur that he called Bénédictine®.
Distilled and aged in a flamboyant palace, built in Fécamp in tribute to this unique liqueur, Bénédictine® is a subtle alchemy of 27 different plants and spices.

An authentic ‘verte’ Swiss absinthe made using 12 plants including angelica & grande wormwood.They, controversially, use grande wormwood in the post distillation maceration, giving a vivid natural green colour and a digestif bitterness.
The alambics each have a capacity of 145 litres, and produce 95 litres of finished absinthe. They are single-walled, rather than duplicating the bain-marie system more commonly used in France. Claude-Alain feels that the fiercer heat gives better extraction of the herbs. ABV 68%

Bols Amaretto is a gold-brown liqueur. Amaretto, which originated in Italy, is famous for its sweet almond aroma and nutty caramel flavour.
Amaretto liqueur is said to have been invented by the woman who modeled for Renaissance-era Italian painter, Bernardino Luini, in 1525. Luini, a follower of Leonardo da Vinci’s art style, chose the mother of a local child to be his model for the Madonna. In return she gave him ringraziarlo a gift, a drink distilled from almonds.

Because the cacao (chocolate) flavour comes from the percolation of cacao beans, Bols Creme de Cacao Brown tastes more like dark chocolate than the distilled-not-percolated Bols Creme de Cacao White, which tastes more like milk chocolate. Creme de Cacao liqueur has been around for a very long time, and Bols has always been the predominant brand, featuring in both the original Alexander and the wildly popular variant, the Brandy Alexander. Bols Kirsch is made from fermented and distilled cherries. It is a clear liqueur flavoured with real cherry juice from the famous Schwarzwalder cherries. Schwarzwalder cherries are called Kirsch and are found in Germany. It is not as well known as it once was in cocktail circles, but professionals still appreciate the subtle differences between Kirsch and a regular Cherry Brandy liqueur.
