This drink is a anise and liquorice flavoured aperitif created by Paul Ricard in 1932. However in 1940, the production was halted as it was prohibited by the Vichy Regime. Founder Paul Ricard would then had to subsequently stopped the production of the drink for the next 11 years. Aged in large barrel in the open air a slight ‘sea-side’ flavour is imparted by the salt spray that licks the barrels.
