The Busker Single Pot Still is a quintessentially Irish style of whiskey produced at the Royal Oak Distillery in County Carlow, Ireland. It stands out as an affordable, highly approachable entry point into the single pot still category, which is traditionally known for its rich spice and oily texture.
Unlike single malts, it is made from a combined mash bill of malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled in traditional copper pot stills, and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Nose: Rich fudge, honey, and honeysuckle blended with orchard fruits like apricot, dried pear, and fresh citrus.
Palate: A touch oily and silky upfront. It opens with sweet vanilla, toffee, and caramel, which quickly gives way to intense baking spices, white pepper, and resinous oak.
Finish: Medium to long, warm, and distinctly spiced, leaving trailing notes of brûlée topping, nutmeg, and vanilla taffy.
