Created by Maurice Fillioux in 1979, the cognac Hennessy Paradis is known for its voluptuous and harmonious aroma. It consists of eaux-de-vie, which are a reflection of the personality of such a delightful cognac: supple, light and round.
They are blended into an excellent cognac defined by its graceful, silky character, highlighting its finely nuanced and harmoniously balanced aromatic qualities. Its superb display of coppery gold colours is an indication of the many years it has spent ageing in old casks.

The Distiller’s Reserve is a new single malt from the Japanese distillery of Hakushu. The whisky has been constructed to showcase the qualities and characteristics of Hakushu’s young lightly peated single malts. These have been accentuated by blending with older heavily peated malt and aged (all of which are 18+ years old) American oak matured whisky. All the casks used have been hand selected by Shinji Fukuyo, who is only the fourth Chief Blender in owner Suntory’s 90 year history.
Hakushu is located on the slopes of Mount Kaikomagatake in the Yamanashi Prefecture, which lies to the northwest of Tokyo. It sits 700 metres (2,300 feet) above sea level. The location is reflected in the name, as Hakushu means ‘forest distillery’ in Japanese. As mentioned, it is owned and operated by Suntory and was opened in 1973, exactly 50 years after they opened their pioneering first distillery at Yamazaki. The current production capacity is three million litres per year. In addition, a new ‘experimental’ grain distillery has recently started operating on the site.
The Distiller’s Reserve joins the 12 years old expression to form a core range. They will be occasionally joined by limited editions, as has happened in the past. Suntory recommend drinking it neat or in a highball with ice and soda water. The Distiller’s Reserve is bottled at 43% ABV and will per bottle. It will be available very shortly in specialist whisky retailers.

Created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870 for his circle of friends, X.O was born at a turning point in history and introduced a new style of cognac: bold, rich and complex. The 100 eaux-de-vie assembled to create X.O were aged for a long time – some for 30 years – to give an unparalleled robustness. Maurice Hennessy gave the name X.O to this unique “extra old” cognac.
Its intense and deep amber color is a sign of its strength. Its flavors of candied fruit and its subtle and lightly spicy nose create a complete harmony: a mark of its roundness. To taste, a smooth, full sensation gives a simultaneously powerful and soft tonality with a hint of cocoa and a warm fruity presence. The long finish expresses all the complexity of the cognac’s blending and its long aging process.

The brand is owned by Suntory, and the first Hibiki blend was released in 1989 to commemorate the company’s 90th anniversary; Hibiki Japanese Harmony was subsequently revealed. The constituent malts come from Suntory’s two malt whisky distilleries, Yamazaki and Hakushu, and the grain component from the company’s Chita Distillery.
A new blend from Suntory that brings to life the harmony of Japanese nature and craftmanship. A delicate and well balanced expression that is both subtle and complex. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Nothing illustrates Remy’s commitment to craftsmanship more than their latest collaboration with metalwork artist Steaven Richard to create the Rémy Martin XO X Steaven Richard Limited Edition Cognac. This special partnership combines generations of savoir-faire with an innovative and cutting edge team. The XO Cognac is made up of over 400 eaux-de-vie from the Petite and Grande Champagnes, also known as the Fine Champagne. As an XO, some of the eaux-de-vie have been aged for more than 37 years.
Both Remy Martin and the Atelier Steaven Richard are recognized by the French State, with an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) label. This indicates their respective excellence in manufacturing and artisanal craft.
The label of the Remy Martin Steaven Richard XO Cognac itself was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between the two, as Steaven Richard redesigned the centaur emblem of Remy Martin. Using metalwork techniques, he recreated a structure of vertical lines of the House’s vines. He then went on to redesign the iconic XO decanter, and the entire gift set.
Steaven Richard has always relied on traditional technique, but instead pioneering his approach by reinventing metalwork. His signature technique is that of artistic lamination and is inspired by his love for nature and the earth. He is constantly pushing boundaries to reach new aesthetic heights and has been pioneering his craft for over ten years. His liaison with Remy Martin marks the height of combining both new and old methods.
