LA CAPITELLE DE BARONARQUES 2020 – 750MLDomaine de Baron’Arques La Capitelle, Domaine de Baronarques is a very old estate, dating back at least to the 17th Century, when it was called Domaine de Lambert. At the time, the estate belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Polycarpe, a village near Limoux in the Aude department of Southern France.
- The colour is dense and deep with a cherry-red tint.
- The refined and pleasant nose reveals intense black berry fruit aromas mingled with succulent notes of marzipan and spice.
- From a round and elegant attack, the mid-palate displays subtle camphor and liquorice notes over a very mellow tannic structure, leading into a long and highly refined finish.

The palate shows spicy red fruit, with a fair density and length, and abundant tannins which should ensure good ageing potential.

Juicy, rich, and rounded on the palate with fresh acidity and a smooth texture to the tannins. Black fruits and a little freshness on the finish give balance.

Charles Brotte took part in this competition and imagined an attractive shaped bottle to illustrate the theme. He won this competition and decided to take the opportunity to make a wine nobody else would have thought of. A wine the world and he would enjoy. Seventy years later the wine remains famous.
The wine is unique and of constant quality. A majority of grenache, an important share of reserve wines – 30% to 40% (some of which are 5 years old) give it fruitiness, freshness and maturity, intensity and smoothness. the wine can be savoured immediately or be kept 5 to 7 years.
