The 2019 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 59% Merlot, harvested from the 18th of September to the 11th of October. It is being aged in French oak barrels, 60% new, for 18 months. The production of this wine represents 23% of the harvest. Very deep purple-black colored, is comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant black cherries, warm cassis and preserved plums scents, plus hints of lilacs, underbrush, dried Provence herbs and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with energetic black and blue fruits, framed by finely grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

La Ciboise is the name of Michel Chapoutier’s grandfather’s home. Located right in the center of the town of Tain l’Hermitage, La Ciboise was the energetic center of Chapoutier family life where children and relatives used to meet regularly. Costiéres de Nîmes is the most southerly appellation of the Rhone wine region in southeastern France. The wines of the area are reputed to have been consumed by the Ancient Greeks and thus figure among the oldest known wines in the world.

Its colour is a deep dark red, with an intense nose of ripe raspberry and black currant. The ripe fruit and soft spices come through again on the palate followed by soft, delicate tannins. Delicious and full bodied.
