Old dry land vines with glass or glass formation, granite soil from the coastal mountain range and a moderate climate for the growth of this variety, provide us with balanced fruit that allows us to make wines with character, fully expressing their origin.
Carignan is a unique, fresh wine, with lots of red fruit, soft tannins and a great body.

GARCIA MALA FAMA ITATA VALLEY – 750MLMala Fama is to have Bad Reputation, as Carignan did in Europe, which was used for years to produce bulk wines and Carmenère which was very criticized by consumer and wine critics, for its spicy notes and low acidity. Regardless this blend get together and enhance the characteristics of each variety, showing a very unique and particular wine.
The Carignan that goes into this wine comes from vines planted in 1958, dry-farmed, bush-trained near Melozal. All of these characteristics provide us great acidity, high concentration and great tannins.
The Carmenère comes from Piedra Lisa Vineyard of the historic Itata Valley, providing us, silky tannins, low acidity and deep dark color. This blend get together the best of each variety

This vineyard is unique due to its soil and climatic conditions, which allows the development and expression of this variety, giving a wine, which is a faithful reflection of the landscape where it grows.
Colored Pinot Noir Deep, with high aromatic layers, dominated by black fruit. In rich texture on the palate, with chalky tannins that fill the mouth and a finish long and fresh.

PENFOLDS BIN 2 SHIRAZ MATARO – 750MLBin 2 was first released in 1960, yet was temporarily discontinued in Australia in the 1970s at the height of the white wine boom. The original Bin 2 was an ‘Australian Burgundy’ style (despite its Rhône varieties) – typically a soft, medium-bodied wine based on shiraz. The Bin 2 blend of Shiraz and Mataro is still relatively uncommon in Australian table wines. Also known as Monastrell or Mourvèdre, Mataro was introduced to Australia in the 1830s. Often used in fortified wine production, this grape is widely planted in the Barossa Valley.
It is valued by winemakers for its blending attributes, adding complexity and palate grip. Interest in Bin 2 has grown as the popularity of traditional Rhône varieties and blends continues to flourish.
A delightfully complex amalgam of savoury green olives, pepperoni with a hint of sweet/salty Dutch liquorice. Soft blue fruits to the fore with textured tannins providing grip. An ample palate gives this wine generosity and presence.

Tasting Notes:
Colour: Darkened deep red.
Nose: Unabashed (Baby Grange) complexities. Ample self-standing fruits already beginning to yield to other vinous intents. Cola, grated chocolate and cappuccino dust bind with juniper and spices. A flash of brown sugar and liquorice, brandy impressions replaced by blood orange-rind. Oak somewhat partially hidden, yet faint scents of cedar and graphite lobby for further bottle maturation.
Palate: Instantly fresh and fleshy. Some overt single-varietal cabernet and shiraz fruits still sit separate. Expected liquorice, stewed plum and blackcurrant, with dark chocolate and mocha in the background. Savoury and salivating – mouth-watering, succulent acidity. Impressive length with concentration, and a mandatory Bin 389 ‘sweet’ core; oak completely absorbed. Polished and refined.

PENFOLDS BIN 8 SHIRAZ CABERNET – 750MLBin 8 has been crafted in the traditional Penfolds style. Ripe, balanced fruit flavours are supported by softly integrated oak resulting in a silky, smooth red wine. It was introduced in response to an interest in Cabernet Shiraz blends – a classic Australian wine style that caught the attention of the international wine media. Although Bin numbers were originally named after the original binning location after bottling, Bin 8 was given its number because it uses older oak previously used for Bin 128, Bin 28 and Bin 389 – with ‘8’ obviously providing the common thread.
Boysenberry ice cream flavours flesh out the sumptuous palate, bolstered by Moroccan tagine spices and cumin roasted pumpkin. Earthy spices are rounded out by an invigorating red currant succulence. Tannins are powdery clearly showing the influence of cabernet sauvignon. A very focused wine with plenty of flesh ably supported by well integrated oak.
