Neimann was fascinated by the fact that every glass of Martell Cordon Bleu contains more than 100 different eaux-de-vie, each of which is crucial to recreating its legendary taste. The story behind the creation of this iconic blend provided the inspiration for the new limited edition: Martell Cordon Bleu “100 eaux-de-vie in every drop”.

When renowned artist and illustrator Christoph Niemann visited Maison Martell in Cognac, he came away amazed by the complex savoir-faire involved in crafting cognac. In particular, he was fascinated by the fact that every glass of Martell Cordon Bleu contains over 100 different eaux-de-vie, each one crucial to recreating its legendary taste, which has remained unchanged since 1912.

For the Iconic Drops limited edition, he conveys his impressions through a striking design made up of dozens of drops – symbolising the eaux-de-vie – gradually transforming into the shape of a glass.

Blended from eaux-de-vie exclusively sourced from the Borderies Terroir, Martell Single Cru Borderies rolls over the tongue with sweet fruit and subtle florals.

The Colour

The Aroma
The first nose is airy and delicate, evoking an elegant bouquet of wild flowers.
When the cognac is swirled in the glass, it reveals rich fruity notes, both candied and dried (apricot, date).
The overall impression is of fullness and smoothness.

The Taste
After a full, rounded attack, notes of candied fruit come to the fore. These are complemented by delicate woody notes and refined spices (cinnamon, vanilla pod, nutmeg), creating a wonderfully harmonious sensation.

Blended from eaux-de-vie exclusively sourced from the Fins Bois terroir – characterized by freshness and lightness – this exclusive cognac invigorates the senses with lush and juicy fruit for a vibrant, fragrant sensation on the palate.

The Colour – Deep copper with amber highlights.

The Aroma – The first nose reveals expressive, vibrant notes of citrus fruit (lemon, pink grapefruit, clementine). When the cognac is swirled in the glass, it evolves towards seductive, fragrant notes of fresh, freshy fruit (peach, nectarine). The overall impression is of freshness and refinement.

The Taste – After a frank, supple attack, a luscious fruity sensation comes to the fore like biting into fresh fruit. This cognac is characterised by its crisp, light flavour profile with juicy fruit and very delicate, well-balanced notes of vanilla and pastries.

Martell Single Cru XXO Borderies is blended from eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir, some more than 80 years old which have attained their aromatic plenitude, resulting in exceptional richness, elegance and finesse. For the first time in over 300 years, with the Martell Single Cru collection, Maison Martell is presenting an individual exploration of its finest terroirs, revealing the unique aromatic specificities of each. Representing just 5% of Cognac vineyards, the small Borderies terroir extends over approximately 4,000 hectares of gentle hills and valleys, dotted with woods.

Features delicate underlying layers of soft spices, sweet vanilla, and a complex rancio profile from decades of slow aging.Delivers sweet, luscious notes of acacia honey and concentrated fruit jelly.
