Indeed, in 2013, half of its production will have been destroyed by a bad flowering.And despite this, Château Pavie 2013 remains one of the greatest successes of this vintage!
Château Pavie 2013 presents a beautiful deep purple color and reveals a bouquet of black fruits, blackcurrant cream, blackberries, undergrowth, earth as well as spice and oak notes in the background.
Once in the mouth, Château Pavie 2013 shows a perfect balance between woody oak notes and black fruit aromas. Medium to full-bodied, with a creamy texture, it’s loaded with velvety tannins, that unfolds on the palate, leading to a smooth finish with a mineral chalky touch.

In the palate, the tannins appear mature and melted, revealing a strong and affirmed structure, a surprising suppleness, perfect harmony and long persistency. The wine is seductive when young without prejudicing its longevity. James Laubé of the Wine Spectator baptised Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, “A First Class Second Cru”, a most fitting tribute.

CHATEAU ROCANGUILLE BORDEAUX MERLOT – 750MLChâteau Rocanguille is a family-owned property for 3 generations. It has 8 hectares of vineyards growing on a magnificent clay-limestone plateau.
Vinification take progress in the tradition, same as the great Bordeaux châteaux. First, they pick the grapes at perfect maturity. Secondly, to facilitate the extraction of the tannins, they thermo-vinify the grapes immediately upon arrival in the winery. Finally, they allow the extravagant aromas to express themselves to their full capacity. Last but not least, temperature is well controlled during fermentation. As a result a great Bordeaux wine take essence worthy of a Grand Cru.
Medium deep ruby red with a youthful purple hue. Floral nose offering crushed red berries, cassis and a mild spiciness. The palate has medium weight with a supple texture and ripe tannin, a gentle hint of wood and butterscotch with soft red fruit flavours and a rounded finish. ”

There is something almost Musigny-like here (written as a complement incidentally—why not be compared to the greatest Burgundy Grand Cru?). The palate is medium-bodied with a soft and mellow opening. Quite spicy in the mouth with leather-tinged fruit on the open and inviting finish, there is something very approachable about this Smith-Haut-Lafitte, though like the 2014 Pape-Clement, it contains the substance to drink well over 10-15 years.

The palate possesses excellent richness, solid concentration and chewy finish. Mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrants and a touch of liquorice sit over a back drop of scorched earth, subtle graphite infusions and spicy cedar. Whilst the tannins are chewy and provide some grip, they are riper and not as dry as the 2014 vintage. Good length with a medium to long aftertaste of blackcurrant, subtle liquorice, infusions of graphite, scorched earth and spicy cedar.
