Exclusive version of Kamiki, aged longer in Cedar casks for more intense taste lovers. Blend with the highest quality pure spring water from Japan. Demure aromas of freshly cut wood and button mushrooms are decidedly earth driven. Much more intense on the palate the flavors explode with toasted tobacco, sweet cinnamon, and background notes of cedar, finally finishing with roasted honey spiked grains.

Nikka Black Special, nicknamed as “Bearded Black”  is a Coffey grain whiskey and it has been in the market since 1965.Earthy and chocolatey, with herbaceous notes and peat smoke, as well as sweet fruit. A winning combo of dark chocolate and dark berry fruit, along with toffee and vanilla notes, bolstered by some well-defined peat. Rich and strong, the smoke and spice lasting longest.

Tasting note:
Nose: Sweet with nuts and little bit of refreshing vanilla.
Taste: The sweetness goes away and is replaced with spices and salt with some bitter notes of dark chocolate.

Finish: Creamy with some malt, medium long.
Balance: Very lively dram that offers a decent mix of sweet and spicy notes. No eureka moments but a steady and fairly nice blended whisky.
Colour: Dark amber

This unique expression was developed in 2013 as a result of Nikka’s continuous experiments to widen the variety and offer more excitements to aficionados. Made from 100% malted barley, whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks to enhance the rich maltiness, complexity and a silky texture. This expression is not categorized as “malt whisky” but as “grain whisky” since it is not distilled in a pot still.
