LES AILES DE RAUZAN 2015 – 750MLLes Ailes de Rauzan-Gassies, second wine of Château Rauzan-Gassies Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is essentially produced from the young vines of the Château.
Deep ruby in the glass, some sediment. It reveals quite an elegant aroma full of mulberry, black plum, cherry, and vanilla with notes of cedar and dried leaves. On the palate, it’s mostly about black fruit, chocolate, and cherry plus overwhelming, in a good way, oak barrel. Pleasant medium finish.

It is being aged in French oak barrels, 60% new, for 18 months. The production of this wine represents 23% of the harvest. Very deep purple-black colored, is comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant black cherries, warm cassis and preserved plums scents, plus hints of lilacs, underbrush, dried Provence herbs and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with energetic black and blue fruits, framed by finely grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

The wines of the area are reputed to have been consumed by the Ancient Greeks and thus figure among the oldest known wines in the world.
Its colour is a deep dark red, with an intense nose of ripe raspberry and black currant. The ripe fruit and soft spices come through again on the palate followed by soft, delicate tannins. Delicious and full bodied.
